Rookie girl group BABYMONSTER from YG Entertainment has surpassed cumulative album sales of 1.53 million copies just eight months after their official debut, highlighting their overwhelming presence in the global market.
On November 14, YG Entertainment announced that BABYMONSTER (members Minji, Hanni, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein) achieved cumulative album sales of 1.53 million (based on Circle Chart) by combining domestic sales and overseas exports. This milestone is especially noteworthy, given that it was achieved with just two albums. Their debut album, the first mini-album BABYMONS7ER, sold 760,000 copies, while their first full album DRIP has already surpassed 770,000 copies and continues to see a steady rise.
Particularly noteworthy is the performance of the first full album, which in under two weeks of release has already exceeded the eight-month cumulative sales of the mini-album. The album's first-week sales (based on Hanteo Chart) exceeded 670,000 copies, with 820,000 copies ordered in just one week. At this rate, BABYMONSTER is on track to achieve their first million-seller single album soon.
Album sales are a key indicator of a core fandom's size and strength, and the phenomenal growth rate of BABYMONSTER's fanbase is evident. Their overwhelming talent on stage, coupled with a fan meeting tour that expanded their global reach and the rapid release of their first full album, appear to have served as catalysts for building a new and dedicated fanbase.
Additionally, the continuous promotions with the double title tracks DRIP and CLIK CLAK, as well as follow-up track Love In My Heart, have only strengthened BABYMONSTER's upward momentum. Next year, the group plans to hold their first world tour, which is expected to receive a positive response from fans around the world.
On November 1, BABYMONSTER released their debut full-length album DRIP, which has already achieved remarkable chart success. The album debuted at No. 149 on Billboard's main chart, the Billboard 200, and its title track DRIP entered the Billboard Global Excl. U.S at No. 16 and the Billboard Global 200 at No. 30, setting a new record for the group's highest-ranking entry.
In addition, DRIP maintained a spot on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart for ten consecutive days, and on China's largest music site, QQ Music, the double title tracks and new songs from the album took top positions on the K-pop Weekly Chart. The song is also climbing domestic music charts like Melon, indicating growing popularity.
