NCT's Taeil (Moon Taeil-30) was handed over to prosecutors on suspicion of a sex crime.
The Bangbae Police Station in Seoul said on the 13th, “Taeil was sent to the prosecutor's office on the 12th of this month.” The police filed a complaint against Taeil in June following a report from victim A, and summoned him for questioning on the 28th of last month.
Some suspected Taeil of sexual offenses against minors of the same sex and drug use. The police denied the allegations, saying that they were “untrue” and that “Taeil was not under the influence of drugs at the time of the crime.”
SM Entertainment announced Taeil's departure on August 28, the day of the summons. “Recognizing the seriousness of the matter, we have decided that he can no longer continue with the team,” the agency said.
“Taeil is cooperating with the police investigation. We will provide further comments as the investigation progresses,” the statement continued, ”We sincerely apologize for any offense caused by our artist.”
Taeil debuted with NCT in 2016. He was the main vocalist and a key member of the team. He has also been a member of NCT 127 and NCT U. Recently, he stopped all team activities as a motorcycle traffic driver.
He met with fans in person about three weeks before he was kicked off the team due to a criminal sexual offense case. He attended NCT 127's 8th anniversary fan meeting, “Secret Invitation,” from March 3-5 last month.
