"If I had to describe this album with a color, I'd say sky blue." — Chuu
Singer Chuu returns with a refreshing yet deeply emotional new release. Like the ever-changing sky—sunny, cloudy, and stormy—her third mini-album 'Only Cry in the Rain' paints a portrait of youth in motion, filled with joy, sorrow, excitement, and growth.
🌦️ Weathering Emotions in Sky Blue
"The sky before, during, and after rain all looks different—but it's all still called sky blue. That's how I see emotions too: ever-changing, but beautiful because of it."
In her previous album 'Howl', Chuu unleashed raw feelings. Now, she returns more emotionally grounded—still open-hearted, but more introspective, more honest.
"Memories may fade, but emotions linger," she reflected. "I wanted to awaken those precious feelings we all carry inside."
🎧 Listening Party Highlights: 'Only Cry in the Rain'
At the media showcase held on April 21 at Movie Land in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, Chuu introduced the mini-album, which includes five tracks, each reflecting a different emotion.
🎵 Title Track: 'Only Cry in the Rain'
A synth-pop track with a dreamy, new-wave vibe, the song captures the quiet act of feeling your emotions freely—under the cover of rain.
"Even without lyrics, I was moved by the melody," Chuu said. "It's rhythmic but sorrowful."
The choreography is designed like a play, with eight backup dancers representing fragments of Chuu's inner self.
The music video was shot in drama-style using 16mm film to evoke nostalgia. She even took on her first crying scene—a performance she credits to her growing interest in acting through her upcoming KBS drama 'My Girlfriend Is a Tough Guy'.
💌 Other Notable Tracks
- 'Je t'aime': A soft, warm love song where Chuu showcases a surprising low register.
- 'Kiss a Kitty': Chuu's first attempt at rapping. "I wanted to show a new voice no one's heard before," she smiled.
- 'Back in Town': A top contender for the title track—sweet, youthful, and bright.
- 'No More': Features a bold marching drum and bassline, with lyrics about self-love and self-worth.
📓 Inspired by Her Own Diary
The emotional depth of this album comes from Chuu's real-life reflections.
She's been journaling since high school—writing about failed auditions, crushing lows, and moments of joy.
"This album feels like sharing pages of my diary with my fans," she said. "It brings us even closer."
🌈 Her Hopes & Dreams
"I'd love to be remembered as a singer who sings emotions," Chuu said. "I want to create waves in people's hearts."
Her goal? To be heard more often—whether it's through streaming platforms or viral clips on social media.
🎧 'Only Cry in the Rain' is now available on all major music platforms as of April 21, 6 PM KST.
