The cult-favorite school action drama Weak Hero is making its long-awaited comeback—with more intensity, deeper emotions, and an upgraded ensemble cast.
On April 21, the production team of Weak Hero Class 2 held a press conference at Hotel Naru Seoul. Director Yoo Soo-min, executive producer Han Jun-hee, and the cast including Park Ji-hoon, Ryeoun, Choi Min-young, Lee Jun-young, Yoo Soo-bin, Bae Na-ra, and Lee Min-jae were in attendance.
🎬 From Wavve to Netflix—Now a Global Release
Season 1 originally premiered in 2022 on Wavve, gaining explosive popularity for breaking the mold of typical school dramas with its stylized action and emotional storytelling.
Season 2 will now debut on Netflix globally on April 25, allowing viewers in over 70 countries to follow Yeon Si-eun's continued journey as he transfers to a new school and confronts even greater threats to protect his new friends.
🗣️ Director's Take: "This Time, It's About Reconciliation"
"If Season 1 was about growing pains, Season 2 is about reconciliation—with others, with oneself, and with the world," said director Yoo Soo-min.
"It's a core part of becoming an adult."
🔥 Park Ji-hoon Returns as Yeon Si-eun
Park Ji-hoon reprises his role as the brainy, physically unassuming but mentally sharp protagonist. This time, he's more battle-hardened and strategic.
"In Season 1, his weapon was a pen. In Season 2, he uses anything around him," Ji-hoon shared.
Director Yoo praised him, saying:
"He carried the emotional weight of this season like a true lead. He was Yeon Si-eun from the first shot to the last."
💥 New Faces, New Friends—The Eun-jang High 4
Joining Si-eun at his new school are:
- Ryeoun as Park Hu-min: a justice-driven powerhouse. Gained 10kg to play this 'muscle-type' character.
- Choi Min-young as Seo Jun-tae: the school's bullied "bread shuttle," who begins to find courage after meeting Si-eun.
- Lee Min-jae as Go Hyun-tak: Hu-min's loyal and action-driven best friend.
"This trio brings the heat," Park Ji-hoon said.
"It's a completely different energy from Season 1."
⚔️ The New Antagonists—Three Villains, Three Styles
Si-eun's new conflicts include:
- Yoo Soo-bin as Choi Hyo-man: a power-hungry school bully with a fragile ego.
- Bae Na-ra as Na Baek-jin: a top student by day, underground boss by night.
- Lee Jun-young as Geum Sung-je: a chaos-driven villain who only seeks thrill.
Jun-young shared:
"Sung-je doesn't want control—he just wants fun. The rooftop fight with Park Ji-hoon was one of our most detailed scenes."
Han Jun-hee added:
"Jun-young was irreplaceable. Without him, we couldn't have cast this role."
💬 More Than Action—A Story About Friendship
Executive producer Han emphasized the heart of the story:
"At its core, Weak Hero is about friendship. One line from the trailer—'It'd be nice to have a friend'—moved me deeply."
💣 Final Words: "Class 2 is a Triple Threat"
Director Yoo summed it up best:
"Season 2 is a three-star feast—a character feast, relationship feast, and action feast. We hope you'll stay with us to see how this story ends."
