Entertainment powerhouse HYBE has stepped up to support the restoration of national heritage sites damaged by recent wildfires in South Korea.
On April 2, HYBE released an official statement expressing its condolences, saying:
"We extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected by the wildfire. As a content company rooted in cultural industries, we hope our support contributes to the restoration of Korea's invaluable heritage."
🔥 ₩1 Billion Donation Toward Heritage Recovery
HYBE has donated ₩1 billion KRW (approx. $740,000 USD) to the National Heritage Administration and the National Trust for Cultural Heritage. The latter is a special legal entity under the National Heritage Administration, dedicated to the preservation, management, and operation of Korea's cultural assets.
🏯 Restoring the Irreplaceable
The funds will be used to repair and restore national heritage properties that were damaged or destroyed in the wildfire. Recovery efforts will also extend to the surrounding environments.
According to reports, 33 heritage sites have been affected, including the Gounsa Temple in Uiseong, which is a state-designated cultural asset.
🙏 A Word from the National Trust
The National Trust for Cultural Heritage stated:
"We deeply thank HYBE for contributing to the restoration and preservation of national heritage. We will move swiftly with the National Heritage Administration to recover the value of these assets and ensure their cultural legacy endures."
The heartfelt donation underscores HYBE's commitment not only to pop culture, but also to protecting the foundations of Korean history and tradition.
