Veteran actor returns as a top salesman in the adaptation of a hit webtoon
Ryu Seung-ryong is making a small-screen comeback — this time as a veteran corporate employee with a story to tell.
On April 1, JTBC officially confirmed, "Ryu Seung-ryong will star in the upcoming drama Story of Manager Kim Working at a Large Company in Seoul (written by Kim Hong-ki and Yoon Hye-seong, directed by Jo Hyun-tak)."
💼 Based on a popular Naver webtoon
The drama is adapted from the hit Naver webtoon of the same name. It tells the story of a by-the-book middle-aged man who suddenly loses everything and embarks on a journey of self-discovery.
Ryu takes on the role of Kim Nam-soo, a high-performing section chief who has worked in sales for 25 years. He's known for his flawless track record and impressive negotiation skills. Having never missed a promotion, he seemed to have it all — a loving family and an apartment in one of Seoul's prime districts — until reality starts to shift.
🎬 From 'Extreme Job' to 'Moving' — expectations are high
Fans are already anticipating Ryu's transformation into the beloved character. The actor is known for delivering both laughs and emotional depth through projects like Masquerade, Miracle in Cell No. 7, Extreme Job, and Disney+'s Moving.
The original webtoon also sparked major buzz online, hitting over 10 million views within a month of its release. Viewers are excited to see how its relatable, grounded storyline will play out on screen.
🎙️ A drama that reflects the lives of many
The production team shared, "Casting Ryu Seung-ryong as Kim Nam-soo felt like destiny," adding, "Story of Manager Kim Working at a Large Company in Seoul is a story that mirrors what many people are going through. We hope it brings comfort and connection to viewers everywhere."
🗓️ The drama is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2025.
