"I told you—I'd be back": G-Dragon defies fierce winds in triumphant solo concert

"It's cold, but it's okay. Because I'm here for GD." – Fan in her 20s

On March 29, wind speeds across Korea peaked at 55 km/h (15 m/s). By 8 p.m., the temperature in Goyang felt like minus 5 degrees Celsius. But even harsh winds and freezing cold couldn't cool down the energy of fans.

G-Dragon held his first solo concert in eight years. He performed a wide selection of songs—from Big Bang's 2006 debut-era tracks to his latest release Ubermensch. The excitement in the air was undeniable.

G-Dragon expressed concern for fans who had waited outside in the cold.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry the concert started late. I'm sorry it's so cold."
Fans replied loudly, "It's okay!"

The organizers had issued a notice prior to the show, asking for understanding regarding delays caused by safety concerns. Stage equipment had to be modified. For example, a planned arm lift was canceled.

Even while singing, clouds of visible breath emerged from G-Dragon's mic. Despite battling cold weather and poor vocal condition, he gave his all, performing 25 songs over three hours.

The concert took place at Goyang Sports Complex as part of G-Dragon's third world tour, 2025 WORLD TOUR: Ubermensch. Dispatch was there to witness the night.

◆ "My sweet home, where VIPs belong"

A large flame burst into the sky, melting away the chill of the long wait. G-Dragon appeared wearing a red rose-themed outfit and a crown, kicking things off with "Power," handheld mic in tow.

He threw his crown into the air and dove into "Home Sweet Home," rapping with a raspy voice. Taeyang and Daesung appeared in a VCR, singing and dancing along. Fans filled the venue with chants of "Home Sweet Home!"

"I told you—I'd be back." — G-Dragon

His quiet whisper sent the crowd into a frenzy. Even his 2012 track One of a Kind received explosive cheers. "He's still got it!" one fan shouted. G-Dragon returned the love with finger hearts and shouted, "I love you!"

During "The Leaders," CL appeared behind G-Dragon, seated on stairs—a callback to their legendary 2017 performance. Her powerful presence added to the moment.

Bowing deeply, G-Dragon listened to fans chant his name: "Kwon Ji-yong! Kwon Ji-yong!" He smiled wide.

"I'm really sorry we started late in this freezing weather."

◆ "It took a long time—but I'm back"

He also addressed the recent wildfire disaster in Korea's southern region. G-Dragon has pledged to donate 300 million KRW from concert profits to aid recovery.

"There's been a heartbreaking incident. It's hard to feel fully at ease tonight."

He thanked fans for being there:

"Thank you for taking the time to be here, allowing me to stand on stage as a singer. I'm grateful and honored."

He continued,

"I didn't take any breaks while preparing for this comeback. I really missed you all. I had promised we'd meet again, but it took longer than expected."
"It took so long to get here. My nose is a little runny—but I'm so happy. Really."

His chemistry with the crowd was as strong as ever.

"When I say swag, you say check!"
"When I say get your, you say Crayon!"

Fans shouted, "Get your CRAYON!" as G-Dragon dashed onto the extended stage with dozens of dancers. Fireworks exploded. Confetti flew. Cheers never stopped.

◆ "We are all Ubermensch"

G-Dragon returned in an all-white outfit. During "Bonamana," he kept adjusting his in-ear monitor. Dispatch later confirmed audio issues had affected his vocal delivery during the performance.

"Too Good" featured a standout visual: G-Dragon changing his outfit on stage, lying down while singing. Dancers' bold choreography divided audience opinions.

"Should I come down there?"

He seemed just as thrilled as fans to reunite. During "Today," he sang directly to the crowd, even accepting placards from fans. During "Crooked," he handed over the mic, letting fans sing with him.

Though fans were excited, they were also concerned for his safety.

"Sorry if I scared you. I might've gone overboard," he said, gently asking fans to move back.

Drones lit up the sky with images from his solo debut album Heartbreaker (2009) and his latest, Ubermensch (2025). He kicked off "Heartbreaker" with beatboxing, revving up the crowd.

"Take Me" featured a lift dance and a dramatic laser show. The debut performance of new track "Too Bad" also drew loud cheers. G-Dragon danced until his legs gave out.

◆ "I'll be back again—soon"

G-Dragon made a promise to fans:

"Many fans couldn't attend today. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room to plant all your 'flowers' (lightsticks). I'll hold another concert in Korea within this year."

He reflected on the moment:

"Even though it's not my first concert, it really feels like my first. I hadn't pictured this scene in years. Maybe it was selfish—but seeing this flower field (fans) makes me so happy."
"Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm sorry for being late. I'm sorry it was cold."

Fans shouted back, "Why are you sorry for the cold?!"

"I'm trying to remember every single one of you. It's cold—but I feel good. I feel amazing. I'll tour quickly and be right back."

He also teased a BIGBANG reunion:

"Next year, my brothers (BIGBANG) will turn 20. They'll officially be Gen Z." (laughs)
"And you know, when you turn 20, you need a coming-of-age ceremony. It'll be gross—but sexy."

Despite his strained voice, he responded to encore chants, performing everything from This Love (Big Bang debut season) to A Boy, Station 1 Year, I Belong to You, and Untitled, 2014.

He seemed tense to the very end.

"Even if it wasn't perfect… I really gave it my all."

He kept clearing his throat and added,

"I'll take care of my voice so I can perform better next time."
"See you again—soon."
