Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook are taking romance to new heights—and new risks—in Scandal (working title), a bold new Netflix original set in Korea's Joseon Dynasty.
📺 Netflix Confirms Star-Studded Cast
On March 27, Netflix officially confirmed production for Scandal, with Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana leading the cast. The series is inspired by the 2003 film Untold Scandal, which reimagined the French classic Les Liaisons Dangereuses in a Joseon-era setting.
💔 Love, Betrayal, and High Stakes in Joseon
Scandal follows the story of Lady Jo (played by Son Ye-jin), a brilliant and alluring woman constrained by the limits of her time. When she meets Joseon's notorious playboy Jo Won (Ji Chang-wook), she dares him to seduce a virtuous widow, sparking a dangerous game of love, manipulation, and revenge.
Son Ye-jin portrays Lady Jo, a woman of sharp intellect and unmatched charm, whose gender forces her brilliance into silence. Ji Chang-wook plays Jo Won, a charming libertine who believes in pleasure, not love—until he meets his match in Lady Jo.
Nana joins as Hee-yeon, a widow mourning her late husband. Her world turns upside down when Jo Won enters her life. Despite her best efforts, she struggles to resist his advances, revealing a deeply conflicted heart.
🎬 From the Director of 'Tune in for Love'
Director Jung Ji-woo, known for Happy End, Tune in for Love, and Netflix's Somebody, helms the project. Writers Lee Seung-young (The Art of Negotiation) and Ahn Hye-song (Somebody) bring the layered emotions and clever dialogue to life.
Scandal promises a provocative blend of forbidden love, seductive mind games, and emotional depth—wrapped in lavish period visuals and top-tier acting.
🗓️ Release date TBA. Streaming exclusively on Netflix.
