[Dispatch=Yoo Haneul] "Meeting this role made me live fiercely." — Park Eun-bin
Actress Park Eun-bin is ready to shock viewers with a never-before-seen transformation in Hyper Knife. Known for her warm, bright characters, she takes a complete 180—portraying an unpredictable, uncontrollable figure who explodes with rage instead of smiling kindly.
"I was excited to see what kind of emotions I could express," Park shared. "When I discovered parts of myself I didn't even know existed, I realized… this is Seok's face."
On March 17, Park attended the Hyper Knife press conference at Conrad Seoul, joined by co-stars Sol Kyung-gu, Yoon Chan-young, Park Byung-eun, and director Kim Jung-hyun.
🩺 A Dark Medical Thriller
Hyper Knife (written by Kim Sun-hee, directed by Kim Jung-hyun) is a psychological medical thriller streaming on Disney+. The story follows Seok (Park Eun-bin), once a gifted neurosurgeon, who reunites with her former mentor Deok-hee (Sol Kyung-gu)—the very man who ruined her life.
"This is a twisted fairytale unlike anything you've seen," director Kim described. "It dives into the eerie world of people obsessed with the brain."
Seok now works as an illegal "shadow doctor," performing underground surgeries. After six years, she reunites with her mentor, triggering an intense battle of pride, obsession, and buried emotions.
🔥 Park Eun-bin's Fierce Transformation
Park, known for cheerful and righteous characters, shatters expectations—spitting in faces and screaming in rage. "I met Hyper Knife while filming Castaway Diva. The logline was too powerful to resist," she recalled.
"This role wasn't a hard decision. I was thrilled to see how deeply I could portray Seok's emotions," she said.
Park threw herself into the role. "I didn't calculate anything. I acted with all five senses alive. I truly discovered a new side of myself," she admitted.
🧠 The Psychology of a Dark Character
Seok is a complex anti-hero—both a doctor who saves lives and a murderer who takes them. To capture the layers, Park turned to her background in psychology.
"I revisited my old psychology textbooks and the DSM-5 manual to study antisocial behavior," she explained.
Director Kim praised her performance: "Watching her act made me think, 'Is she crazy?' The emotional buildup and explosion were overwhelming—even now, it makes my throat tighten."
Park added, "Playing Seok was a battle. I gave everything I had until the end. Now, I'm ready to let her loose into the world and see how she's judged."
💥 Explosive Chemistry with Sol Kyung-gu
The drama centers on Seok and Deok-hee's volatile relationship. "It's a story driven by this bond," Park explained. "These are people who believe only their way is right. Watch how they hurt each other."
Although the characters clash, the actors shared perfect chemistry. "Every scene with Sol Kyung-gu gave me good energy and inspiration," Park said.
Sol Kyung-gu returned the praise: "I chose this project because of Park Eun-bin. Even from reading the script, I was curious and excited to see her perform. Working with her was truly satisfying."
💬 A Message to Viewers
Park left a thoughtful message:
"Seok isn't easy to understand. But I hope you'll think, 'There are people like this too.' This story is about meeting good and evil at the edge of life. I want you to feel those emotional shifts."
Hyper Knife premieres on Disney+ with Episodes 1 and 2 dropping March 19.
