Weeekly has officially parted ways with their agency IST Entertainment, marking the end of their six-year journey as a group.
On the 26th, IST Entertainment confirmed the news to Dispatch, stating:
"We have had extensive discussions with the Weeekly members about their future activities. After careful consideration, both parties have agreed to terminate their exclusive contracts."
💔 A Heartfelt Goodbye to Fans
The agency expressed gratitude to Weeekly's loyal supporters:
"We sincerely thank the fans who have been part of this bright and warm journey. We hope you will continue to support the members in their individual endeavors."
📌 Behind the Contract Termination
IST Entertainment, formerly under Kakao Entertainment, was fully acquired by Beyond Music, an investment firm specializing in music rights, earlier this year.
Unlike other artists under the label, Weeekly did not transition to Beyond Music, leading to the mutual decision to end their contracts.
🎤 Weeekly's Legacy
Debuting in 2020, Weeekly was a six-member group known for their refreshing, youthful image. The lineup included:
- Soojin, Monday, Soeun, Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa
Their hit songs 'After School' and 'Good Day' gained them a strong global following, with 'After School' in particular going viral on social media for its catchy melody and choreography.
🎶 What's Next for IST Entertainment?
IST Entertainment is also home to Jung Eunji and ABTO, whose futures with the agency remain under discussion.
Fans now eagerly await the next chapter for Weeekly's members, as they embark on new journeys beyond their group activities.
