Actors Lee Byung-hun and Yoo Ah-in bring the legendary world of Go to the big screen. The highly anticipated film 'The Match' (directed by Kim Hyung-joo) is officially set for a theatrical release on March 26.
A Legendary Battle of Go Masters
Distributor BIFROST Studio announced on February 17,
"'The Match' will officially hit theaters on March 26. The first official poster has been unveiled."
The film follows Cho Hun-hyun (played by Lee Byung-hun), a legendary Go master who faces defeat against his own disciple. However, his relentless competitive spirit drives him to challenge his limits once again.
From Netflix to Theaters
'The Match' was originally scheduled for release on Netflix but was put on hold due to lead actor Yoo Ah-in's drug allegations, which emerged last year.
Instead, the film is shifting focus to Lee Byung-hun, who takes center stage in the promotional materials. The newly released poster highlights his intense and strategic presence, capturing the essence of a true master in the game of Go.
A Film Crafted with Precision
A production insider shared,
"'The Match' is a project meticulously crafted, move by move, by hundreds of dedicated staff. It's a film that will be a rewarding choice for audiences this spring."
