Singer and actor Hwang Min-hyun continues his winning streak with another global hit. Following the success of My Lovely Liar, his latest drama Study Group has taken the top spot on Viu's charts in multiple countries.
The TVING original series, Study Group (written by Eom Sun-ho & Oh Bo-hyun, directed by Lee Jang-hoon & Yoo Beom-sang), premiered on January 23 and releases two episodes every Thursday.
According to Viu (February 2–9), Study Group ranked No. 1 in Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia, showing its strong appeal among Asian viewers.
- No. 3 in Hong Kong
- No. 5 in Singapore
- No. 8 in the Philippines
The series continues to gain momentum, solidifying the rising global popularity of K-school action dramas.
Study Group tells the story of Yoon Ga-min (played by Hwang Min-hyun), a high school student with a natural talent for fighting who decides to focus on academics. He forms a study group to take on the world of competitive exams, blending action, comedy, and heartfelt moments.
Hwang Min-hyun's portrayal of Yoon Ga-min has been widely praised for his duality—his innocent looks contrasting with his impressive fighting skills, creating a refreshing mix of humor and intensity.
This success follows his No. 1 ranking in 3 countries on Viu last year with My Lovely Liar (2023). With Study Group climbing the charts, Hwang's growing global fanbase is undeniable.
