On February 13, G-Dragon shared his thoughts during the online press conference for MBC's new reality show Good Day, where he takes on the role of producer for an ambitious music project.
"Good Day isn't about showcasing perfect singing," G-Dragon admitted with a smile. "It's about creating something meaningful together, and I hope this isn't just a one-time project."
The show follows G-Dragon as he collaborates with various celebrities and artists to create the song of the year, blending music with personal stories. Produced by Kim Tae-ho, the series has already drawn attention for its unique concept and high-profile lineup.
G-Dragon's influence as the centerpiece of the show is undeniable. After returning to the music scene last year with hits like Home Sweet Home and Power, dominating the charts and making appearances on music shows, web variety shows, and radio, his next move in Good Day is highly anticipated.
The show features a star-studded cast, including veteran entertainers and rising stars: Jung Hyung-don, Defconn, and Code Kunst, alongside SEVENTEEN's BSS (Seungkwan, DK, Hoshi) and aespa. Even non-singers like actor Hwang Jung-min, actress Kim Go-eun, chef Ahn Sung-jae, broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung, and webtoon artist Kian84 join the project, making it truly diverse and unpredictable.
Reflecting on the project, G-Dragon explained, "During my hiatus, I watched many juniors and colleagues perform. When I was younger, seeing different artists gather on one stage made me dream of becoming a singer. I wanted to recreate that sense of harmony in a modern way."
He added, "The K-pop industry has grown so much, and the system for creating content is different from when I started. I thought bringing everyone together would be heartwarming to watch. Not just singers, but friends and colleagues from different fields. The synergy created by these exchanges is something special."
G-Dragon admitted that the idea of collaborating with so many different people was exciting yet unpredictable: "Some of the people I met on set, I had only imagined working with. Thankfully, we clicked, and it was a fun experience, especially with those of my age group."
Expect Something Memorable
Jung Hyung-don described the show as "a rare and valuable record", while Defconn praised director Kim Tae-ho's creative vision, saying, "He has a unique way of presenting things, so the final result will be beautiful."
G-Dragon emphasized the deeper meaning of Good Day, saying, "This project reminded me of the roots of Korean music. There are so many songs we grew up with that are part of our culture. It would be amazing if this show helps connect those songs with international fans."
The highly anticipated Good Day will premiere on February 16 at 9:10 PM (KST) on MBC.
