The song and music video were released on January 6. Upon its release, the video quickly entered YouTube's Trending Videos (Music) chart at No. 2 and climbed to the top spot around 1 a.m. on January 7.

The video has maintained its No. 1 position since then. As of 8 a.m. on January 10, the music video had amassed over 14.61 million views. It also reached No. 1 on YouTube's Trending Videos chart from January 7 to 8.

BOYNEXTDOOR achieved a career high on global charts with I LOVE YOU. The track reached No. 4 on Melon's Top 100 chart at midnight on January 7, marking their highest position to date.
