The debut song of rookie boy group TWS, "Plot Twist," has made history by topping last year's Melon annual chart.

According to the "2024 Melon Annual Chart" released on January 9, the title track from TWS's debut album "Sparkling Blue" took the No. 1 spot on the chart. The group consists of members Shin Yu, Do Hoon, Young Jae, Han Jin, Ji Hoon, and Kyung Min.

This marks the first time in 14 years that a debut track has reached the top of Melon's annual chart, following Miss A's "Bad Girl Good Girl" in 2010. Additionally, TWS is the first boy group in six years to claim the No. 1 position since iKON's "Love Scenario" in 2018.

With this achievement, TWS has reignited the boy group craze, signaling a shift in the K-pop landscape with their overwhelming popularity and momentum.

TWS has sparked a massive public reaction with their debut track "Plot Twist," introducing a new genre they call 'Boyhood Pop' — a style that evokes beautiful emotions in everyday life.

The song not only topped two major categories — Digital and Streaming — on the Circle Chart for the first half of 2024, but it is also still charting nearly a year after its release, demonstrating its impressive longevity.

Notably, TWS is the only K-pop boy group to rank within the top spots on both TikTok's 'Top Songs' and YouTube's 'Most Popular Songs.' Their widespread success highlights their growing influence in both traditional and digital music platforms, cementing their place as a rising force in K-pop.
