Actor Park Seo-joon is set to return to the small screen with a romantic comedy, taking on the role of an entertainment journalist.
On the 6th, JTBC's new drama Waiting for Gyeongdo (written by Yoo Young-ah, directed by Im Hyun-wook) announced the casting news. Park Seo-joon will showcase a range of romantic stories, from innocent first love to mature relationships.
Waiting for Gyeongdo tells the story of Lee Gyeong-do and Seo Ji-woo, who fall in love twice — at the ages of 20 and 28 — only to part ways. Years later, they meet again, with Gyeong-do as the journalist who reports on a scandal and Ji-woo as the wife of the man involved.
Director Im Hyun-wook, known for King the Land and Reflection of You, will helm the project. The script is penned by Yoo Young-ah, who worked on the film On Your Wedding Day and dramas such as Thirty-Nine and Divorce Attorney Shin.
Park Seo-joon will play Lee Gyeong-do, an entertainment reporter at Dongwoon Daily. His character breaks a scandal involving his first love's husband and unexpectedly reunites with his ex-girlfriend Seo Ji-woo.
This marks Park Seo-joon's return to JTBC after five years, following Itaewon Class. The production team shared, "The drama will portray one man's intense and chaotic love story, offering a highly relatable and immersive experience."
The role of Seo Ji-woo has yet to be confirmed. Actress Won Ji-an is reportedly in talks for the part. She recently gained attention for her role as Semi in Netflix's Squid Game 2.
