Singer Kim Bum-soo has stepped forward to support victims of the recent passenger plane tragedy.
The Community Chest of Korea announced on the 3rd, "Kim Bum-soo has donated 10 million KRW to aid those affected by the Jeju Air passenger plane accident."
Kim Bum-soo extended his condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims. The organization plans to continue a special fundraising campaign for the victims until the 31st.
Kim Bum-soo has a history of philanthropy, including a 100 million KRW donation to the Community Chest of Korea in 2020, which earned him a place in the Honor Society, a group of major donors. He has also contributed to COVID-19 relief efforts and covered medical expenses for children with rare diseases. In 2023, he donated 10 million KRW to aid those affected by the Türkiye-Syria earthquake.
A representative stated, "Kim Bum-soo has consistently shared with those in need, delivering warmth to struggling communities both domestically and internationally."
Meanwhile, the government has declared a national mourning period until the 4th to commemorate the victims of the Jeju Air tragedy at Muan Airport on the 29th, which claimed 179 lives and left 2 injured.
Joint memorial altars have been set up in 17 provinces and cities nationwide. The entertainment industry has also joined in, with broadcasts postponed, concerts canceled, and album releases rescheduled.
