JYP Entertainment announced a delay in the debut project content release for their new boy group KickFlip due to the aftermath of the Jeju Air flight accident.
On December 30, the company stated, "The KickFlip content originally scheduled for release at midnight on January 1, 2025, will now be uploaded at midnight on January 6." They added, "If there are further changes, we will provide updates accordingly. We ask for fans' understanding and extend our deepest condolences to the victims of this tragic accident."
KickFlip is JYP's first boy group in seven years since Stray Kids, with a name symbolizing a fresh and dynamic approach, akin to a skateboard trick that spins while moving forward.
The delay comes after Jeju Air flight 7C2216 crashed while attempting to land at Muan International Airport on December 29, colliding with the runway's outer wall. Of the 181 passengers onboard, 179 lost their lives.
The South Korean government has declared a seven-day national mourning period until January 4. The tragedy has also disrupted the entertainment industry, leading to cancellations of major year-end events, including award shows, showcases, and concerts.
