HYBE is currently pursuing legal action related to violations of their artists' rights and has shared details on some of the ongoing cases.
On December 27, HYBE's subsidiary labels—Big Hit Music, Pledis Entertainment, Source Music, ADOR, Belift Lab, and KOZ Entertainment—released an update on Weverse regarding their legal efforts.
Artists such as BTS, TXT, SEVENTEEN, TWS, Baekho, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, ENHYPEN, I'LL-IT, and BOYNEXTDOOR have been involved in lawsuits against malicious commenters.
Many perpetrators have been convicted of defamation. In one case, an individual who was already penalized for posting malicious content about BTS reoffended and was fined ₩2 million.
Another offender, who posted hundreds of defamatory posts on their blog, received a ₩5 million fine after the court deemed their actions criminal.
SEVENTEEN recently highlighted issues surrounding the spread of false rumors about their album sales. They issued a warning, stating, "We are taking strong legal action against any activities violating our artists' rights."
TWS also faced similar issues, filing lawsuits in June against individuals spreading rumors of chart manipulation. The court recognized these actions as defamatory.
LE SSERAFIM took legal action in May by filing mass lawsuits. These cases have since been transferred to the appropriate police stations, and the label stated their intention to continue with both civil and criminal proceedings.
NewJeans also took legal measures against various criminal acts, including the distribution of explicit images using a member's likeness. One offender was fined several million won.
BOYNEXTDOOR reported incidents involving the false sale of their artists' personal information. The label announced plans for further legal actions against the spread of illegal content.
All HYBE labels encouraged fans to actively report violations. A company representative said, "We urge fans to submit reports through the 'HYBE Artist Rights Protection Reporting Center.'"
