Singer and actor T.O.P (real name Choi Seung-hyun) expressed his excitement for the release of Squid Game 2.

On December 25, T.O.P shared a post on his social media account with the caption, "D-1, Squid Game," accompanied by photos.

The images included promotional material for Squid Game 2 with the tagline, "Join the game again, December 26, 2024," as well as photos prepared by Netflix for the series.

Despite not participating in any official promotional activities for Squid Game 2, T.O.P caught attention by actively promoting the series through his social media posts.

T.O.P's casting in Squid Game 2 has been a source of ongoing controversy. Public backlash arose following the announcement due to his previous conviction for marijuana use, which resulted in a suspended prison sentence.

In response, director Hwang Dong-hyuk addressed the issue during a press conference in August, stating, "I didn't expect this level of controversy. It was an incident that happened quite some time ago, and the sentence has already been served. Many individuals who previously caused public issues have successfully returned to the industry."

Hwang added, "I assumed time would have turned this into a personal matter, but I now realize I underestimated the public's concerns. However, we thoroughly vetted him and confirmed his strong determination."

Despite these remarks, the controversy remains unresolved, and T.O.P has refrained from participating in any promotional events for the series.

Squid Game 2 will premiere on December 26 at 5 p.m., with all episodes released simultaneously.
