TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) has solidified their popularity in Japan by winning a prestigious award at a prominent local ceremony.
On November 21, the Japan Composer’s Association announced the winners for the 66th Shining! Japan Record Awards (hereafter referred to as the Japan Record Awards).
The Japan Record Awards is Japan’s most historic and prestigious music awards ceremony, first held in 1959 and continuing for over 60 years.
TXT received the Special Award at this year’s ceremony. The award is given to artists and works that made a significant cultural impact during the year.
This makes TXT the second K-pop boy group in history to win the Special Award at the Japan Record Awards, following BIGBANG, who won the same accolade in 2016.
The group has achieved remarkable results in Japan this year. They set a record for the most consecutive No. 1s by an international artist on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking, with 11 albums.
Their Japanese single "CHIKAI" surpassed 750,000 cumulative shipments, earning Triple Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
They also became the fastest K-pop act to embark on a four-major-dome tour in Japan, performing at Tokyo Dome, Kyocera Dome, Banterin Dome, and Mizuno PayPay Dome.
Meanwhile, TXT is set to perform at the 2024 MAMA Awards on November 22 at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan.
