NewJeans Becomes First K-Pop Girl Group to Perform at Countdown Japan 24/25
According to ADOR, NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) will join the lineup for Countdown Japan 24/25, Japan's largest year-end indoor festival held at Tokyo's Makuhari Messe from December 28 to 31. NewJeans is set to perform on the event's final day, December 31, on the festival's main stage, promising to energize the crowd.
Countdown Japan, launched in 2003, is a major annual event attracting over 130,000 attendees last year. This year's lineup includes top Japanese artists such as Creepy Nuts, Vaundy, MAN WITH A MISSION, and SixTONES. Following their successful appearance at Summer Sonic last August, NewJeans' participation in Countdown Japan highlights their rising popularity and influence in Japan.
NewJeans made a remarkable official debut in Japan this year. Their debut single Supernatural, released in June, achieved million-seller status, with the title track topping major Japanese music charts upon release.
In addition, NewJeans set a milestone by becoming the fastest foreign artist to hold a fan meeting at Tokyo Dome in just 1 year and 11 months. Their Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome event on June 26-27 sold out both dates, drawing over 91,200 fans. The event generated significant buzz among local fans and fueled the NewJeans craze in Japan, further proving their impact beyond the charts.
