Actors Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-bin are set to portray “dark nuns” in the upcoming film Dark Nuns, directed by Kwon Hyuk-jae, scheduled to premiere in January next year.
Distributor NEW announced on the 4th, “Dark Nuns, starring Song Hye-kyo and Jeon Yeo-bin, will hit theaters on January 24, 2025. We hope audiences will look forward to seeing their fresh transformations.”
Dark Nuns serves as a second installment following The Priests (2015), depicting a group of individuals who perform a forbidden ritual to rescue a boy possessed by a powerful demon.
Song Hye-kyo takes on the role of Sister Yunia, a determined nun willing to take extreme measures to prepare for the ritual and fight against the dark force.
Jeon Yeo-bin stars as Sister Michaela, who decides to become a “dark nun” and support Yunia. Her character grapples with curiosity and skepticism toward the ritual, adding layers to the story.
The cast also includes Lee Jin-wook as Father Paolo, a psychiatrist who doesn’t believe in the existence of demons, and Moon Woo-jin as Hee-jun, the young boy afflicted by possession.
An international poster was also released today, showing the backs of Sisters Yunia and Michaela, pushing the boy in a wheelchair, seemingly venturing into unknown danger.
A representative remarked, “The two nuns begin the forbidden ritual with a fierce determination to save the boy, stepping into unpredictable dangers. Please look forward to it.”
Dark Nuns is set for theatrical release on January 24, 2025.
