Actors Park Eun-bin and Cha Eun-woo will team up as superpowered characters in a comedy, showing a fresh side of themselves.
On November 1, Netflix announced the production of the new series "The Wonderfuls," revealing a cast lineup that includes Park Eun-bin, Cha Eun-woo, Kim Hae-sook, Choi Dae-hoon, Lim Sung-jae, and Son Hyun-joo.
"The Wonderfuls" is set in 1999, during a time when apocalyptic theories were widespread. After an unexpected incident, a group of small-town misfits gains superpowers and must defend their city, Hae-seong, from villains threatening its peace.
Yoo In-sik, the director of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and "Dr. Romantic," will lead the project. Writer Heo Da-jung, who adapted "Extreme Job," is in charge of the script, with Kang Eun-kyung of "Gyeongseong Creature" joining as the creator.
Park Eun-bin will play "Eun Chae-ni," a known troublemaker in Hae-seong who suddenly acquires superpowers. She is expected to bring a lovable and humorous performance to the role.
Cha Eun-woo takes on the character "Lee Woon-jung," a special-recruit civil servant from Seoul who lacks social skills. While he is strict with rules at work, he becomes a mysterious figure investigating a series of disappearances outside his job.
Kim Hae-sook will portray "Kim Jeon-bok," Chae-ni’s grandmother and sole family member, who runs the Big Hand Restaurant and holds a flashy yet dark past.
Choi Dae-hoon joins as "Son Kyung-hoon," a nuisance in Hae-seong, while Lim Sung-jae plays "Kang Ro-bin," a pushover in the town. Although Kyung-hoon and Ro-bin have flawed superpowers, they stand alongside Chae-ni against villains.
Son Hyun-joo will play "Ha Won-do," a rational and level-headed character with a dark side, adding tension to the story.
"The Wonderfuls" is produced by Nangman Crew and Kakao Entertainment, with Fantagio joining as a co-producer.
