The Korean drama starring actors Song Kang and Han So-hee is being remade in Japan.
On the 31st, production company SLL announced, "'Nevertheless,' will be remade in Japan and will be released on OTT platforms Abema and Netflix on December 9."
"Nevertheless," is a youth romance that aired on JTBC in 2021. Song Kang and Han So-hee portrayed the characters Park Jae-eon and Yoo Na-bi, showcasing a push-and-pull romance.
The show garnered particular popularity in Japan, remaining in Netflix Japan's Top 10 for 13 weeks and entering global charts for seven consecutive weeks, achieving international success.
Actor Yokohama Ryusei takes the lead role in this remake, titled The Shapes of Love (わかっていても). Ryutaro Nakagawa will direct the series.
The show will consist of eight episodes and is set in Kamakura, Japan, portraying the detailed emotions of the protagonists drawn to each other despite the potential for heartbreak.
SLL expressed, "We are pleased that our drama is being remade, and we expect a high-quality production that reflects Japanese sensibilities and culture."
Meanwhile, Nevertheless, explores the story of a woman who doesn't believe in love but wants to date and a man who finds relationships tiresome but enjoys casual romance.
