Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Sends Thank-You Letter to BTS's RM for Generous Donation
On October 24, South Korea's Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, Kang Jung-ae, expressed her gratitude to BTS's RM (Kim Namjun, 30) through a personal letter. The letter acknowledged RM's meaningful donation of 100 million KRW (approximately 74,000 USD) to the "All Patriots Fund" last month.
Minister Kang wrote, "I sincerely thank RM for participating in the 'All Patriots' donation campaign to express appreciation for those in uniformed service." She added, "Your heartfelt contribution will greatly encourage both the veterans who have served this nation and the uniformed personnel who continue to protect our daily lives."
The letter continued, praising RM's commitment to national service, saying, "Your dedication to fulfilling your military duty in uniform serves as an inspiration to many young people. We are deeply moved by your thoughtful efforts to create a better world."
In conclusion, the minister stated, "We at the Ministry will work to nurture a culture of respect and gratitude for uniformed personnel, growing the seeds of appreciation that your donation has planted. I wish you good health as you continue your military service."
RM made the donation on September 12, in celebration of his birthday, through the "All Patriots Dream" campaign. His contribution supports the Ministry's Thank You to Those in Uniform initiative, aimed at fostering respect and gratitude for uniformed workers. The donated funds will be used to support the welfare and honor of veterans, their families, and other individuals in uniform.
At the time of his donation, RM remarked, "Through my experiences in the field, I have come to feel deeply the sacrifices of many who serve the country. I hope this small contribution can offer some help to the heroes who continue to dedicate themselves to the nation."
RM is currently serving in the military, having enlisted in November 2022. He is assigned to the 15th Infantry Division's military band and is expected to complete his service in June 2025.
