Aespa Returns with an Upgraded 'Iron Taste'

On the 15th, SM Entertainment revealed a new teaser image for Aespa's fifth mini-album, Whiplash. The teaser hinted at the members' bold visuals and intense "iron taste" performance.

In the teaser, each member's distinct visual style catches the eye. Notably, Winter stood out with her red bob hairstyle, adding a fresh twist to her look. Aespa effortlessly pulled off silk outfits, reminiscent of AI characters.

The new album will feature a total of six tracks. The title track, sharing the same name as the album, is an EDM-based dance song characterized by a fast-paced bass and house beats. It also marks Aespa's first attempt at the techno style since their debut.

The choreography promises an intense "iron taste" as well. Particularly, a move in the hook where the members grab their necks gives a direct and impactful expression of the song's title. Additionally, there are bold sections such as shoulder isolation performances.

Several of the songs have already been previewed. Ahead of their comeback, Aespa surprised fans by unveiling four solo tracks during their second concert on the 9th. Among them, Karina's self-written song 'Up' has been receiving particularly hot responses.

'Up' swept the Melon Top 100, Hot 100, and daily charts, ranking No. 1 across the board. It also peaked at No. 1 on the real-time charts of Bugs, FLO, and Genie, and topped Apple Music's 'Today's Top 100: Korea' chart.

Aespa will officially release Whiplash on October 21 at 6 PM.
