BTS proved that their global popularity continues to grow.
The Japan Recording Industry Association announced the streaming certifications for the month of June on 25th. BTS has been certified 'Diamond' for their hit song "Butter". The song has been played over 500 million times.
The Japan Recording Industry Association grants certifications every month based on the cumulative number of plays of a song. There are three levels of certification: Gold (50 million plays or more), Platinum (100 million plays or more), and Diamond (500 million plays or more).
This is BTS's second "Diamond" certification after "Dynamite," proving that the song is still a hit in Japan. It proves their popularity in Japan remains strong.
In addition to this, BTS also received a "Gold" certification for streaming. These include "Blue & Grey" (November 2020), "Run BTS" (June 2022), and Jungkook's "3D" (September 2023).
Jimin has also been prominent on Japan's Oricon chart. In the latest chart (dated 29 July), his solo second album "Muse" topped the Weekly Digital Album Ranking (1st), Weekly Album Ranking (3rd), and Weekly Combined Album Ranking (3rd).
Meanwhile, "Butter" went straight to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (5 June 2021) upon its release. It remained at the top for seven consecutive weeks. It is the most number one songs on the Hot 100 in 2021.
