'Pachinko' has received worldwide acclaim for its emotionally resonant story and actors' performances ? Pachinko Season 2 has released a trailer featuring BLACKPINK Rosé's 'Viva La Vida'.
A heartwarming tale of epic proportions, Pachinko is a story of forbidden love that moves between Korea, Japan, and the United States in an unforgettable chronicle of war and peace, love and separation, triumph and judgement. Today, Pachinko, the critically acclaimed series that chronicles the hopes and dreams of four generations of Korean immigrants who fled their homeland with an indomitable will to survive and thrive, released the trailer for Season 2. Set in Osaka in 1945, the new trailer showcases the reunion of Sun-ja (Kim Min-ha) and Hansu (Lee Min-ho), as well as new faces from Season 2, including Kim Sung-kyu. The film is set to the music of BLACKPINK's Rosé's reinterpretation of "Viva La Vida," a song that has topped music charts around the world. Rosé's rendition of "Viva La Vida" will not only be used in the trailer, but will also be used as the ending song for the final episode of "Pachinko" Season 2, creating a finale that will leave a lasting impression.
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, Pachinko tells the story of a Korean immigrant family from Korea in the early 1900s to Japan in the 1980s, told through the eyes of the matriarch, Seonja, who uprooted her family to live in a strange land in order to stay true to herself. Season 2 of Pachinko begins in Osaka in 1945, at the outbreak of World War II, and follows Seonja as she struggles to protect her family, even making dangerous choices. The film then jumps to 1989 Tokyo, where Solomon (Jin Ha) has to start over with nothing, and the aging Zen Master (Yoon Yeo-jung) worries about his grandson.
Produced in three languages - Korean, Japanese and English - Season 1 of Pachinko has been recognised with 11 prestigious awards around the world, including the Critics Choice Awards and Gotham Awards. Season 2 of "Pachinko" will feature the return of Season 1's stellar cast, including Lee Min-ho, Youn Yuh-jung, Kim Min-ha, Jin-ha, Anna Sawai, Jung Eun-chae, Arai Soji, and Han Joon-woo, as well as newcomer Kim Sung-kyu.
Season 2 of "Pachinko" is produced by Media Res and written and executive produced by executive producer Soo Hyuga. Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer of Media Res and Theresa Kang of Blue Marble Pictures also executive produce. Rian Welham, Jun Lim Jin, and Sang-il Lee will direct.
Season 2 of "Pachinko," which has received rave reviews from critics and audiences around the world for being the most Korean story ever told, will consist of eight episodes, with the first episode premiering on Friday, 23 August, followed by one episode per week until 11 October on Apple TV+.
