Group SEVENTEEN (SEVENTEEN -Scoups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, THE8 , Mingyu, Dokyeom, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino) has selected Mingyu to lead their own content programme 'GOING SEVENTEEN'.
On the 17th, SEVENTEEN posted "EP.108 Class Leader Election #2" of "GOING SEVENTEEN" on the team's official SNS and YouTube channels. The broadcast featured candidate hearings, debates, and the final vote for the class leader.
After the previous nominees, Scoups, Jun, Hoshi, and THE8, were heard and decided as the final candidates, this time, Mingyu, Seungkwan, Dino, and Do Gyeom, who decided to run at the last minute, faced a barrage of questions from the voters.
Firstly, Mingyu was nominated for the unlikely reason that he gave his parents pocket money on Mother's Day. Seungkwan, on the other hand, voluntarily withdrew his candidacy, saying, "I'll challenge for the vice-leader position if it becomes available." When Dino was asked, "Who is the member you don't fit in with," he replied, "It's a process of fitting in, and there is no member who doesn't fit in with me," to cheers.
Dokyeom declared an emergency candidacy at the end of the hearing, but was not shortlisted. "If I become class president, I won't get emotional if something happens to the members," he promised, and when he was rejected, he added, "I won't get emotional only when I become class president," drawing laughter.
The shortlisting debate turned into a talent show when Mingyu was asked, "How would you appease the members if the filming was delayed by an hour?" He defused the situation with a dance, and the other members followed suit. Hoshi, who was getting nervous as she watched the other members perform, decided to resign at the last minute, causing hilarity. Jun also withdrew his nomination, saying, "I don't think I deserve it."
In the final vote, it was a two-way tie between Mingyu, who delivered three consecutive solo performances, and THE8, who promised, "I've been relying on my members, but if I become class leader, I'll lead." It was a close race, but in the end, Mingyu won. "I will lead the members well and help the future of 'Going Seventeen'," he said, receiving applause for his personal congratulations.
At the end of the episode, the members were shown travelling somewhere in comfortable clothes, raising expectations for the new episode. "Going Seventeen," which has been described as an "infinite challenge in the K-pop world," is released every Wednesday at 9 p.m. on Seventeen's YouTube channel.
