MBC will broadcast a special documentary on SEVENTEEN.
MBC-TV's special documentary 'Magic Hour, The Seventeen' will air on 5 May at 8.40pm. The documentary will cover SEVENTEEN's nine-year history and the 'SEVENTEEN the City' project.
SEVENTEEN debuted in 2015. The 13 members have worked as a team or as three distinct units. Last year, the group ranked No. 1 in album sales worldwide and earned 93.4 billion won in ticket sales in six months.
In an interview for the documentary, Hoshi said, "We only dreamed of doing a dome tour. We thought it would be the end, but we didn't expect to do a stadium tour," Hoshi said in the documentary.
SEVENTEEN took the stage at Nissan Stadium in Japan this year. At the beginning of their debut, they performed alone with about 800 fans, but now they filled the stadium with 72,000 fans.
Seventeen's performance is unique. The "Seventeen the City" project is one of the reasons, and this year's "Seventeen the City-Yokohama" was the first time the group collaborated with a local government.
In total, more than 20 companies and organisations participated in Seventeen the City in Yokohama. There were 57 programmes, the most ever held in a single region of Seventeen the City.
A Yokohama city official said, "The entire city was in the mood to welcome Seventeen and their fandom 'Caret'." The documentary also visits the actual site of "SEVENTEEN THE CITY-Yokohama.
"SEVENTEEN has grown into a group that breaks records for the first time, the best, and the most," MBC said in a statement, "and we will shed light on the K-pop industry through the performance culture that SEVENTEEN and their fans enjoy together."
