The police have launched an internal investigation (investigation before admission) regarding the incident in which Jin (real name Kim Seok-jin), a member of the group BTS, was unexpectedly kissed by a fan at a fan meeting event.
Seoul Songpa Police Station announced yesterday (18th), "We have begun an internal investigation in relation to a complaint filed requesting that a fan who attempted to kiss Jin be investigated for violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act."
Mr. A, the civil complainant who filed the complaint, disclosed the details of his phone conversation with the police officer in charge along with the 'Notice of Investigation Progress Before Arrest' on an online community.
According to the police explanation released by Mr. A, even if the fact of sexual harassment is clear, the victim must have felt 'sexual shame' for the crime to be considered molestation, and the police must receive a statement from the victim to enter the recognition stage.
Regarding the ban on suspects known to be Japanese from leaving the country, the police explained, "It is difficult to proceed quickly because a list of 1,000 event participants must be received from the agency and there are procedures that require confirming who the perpetrator among them is."
If Jin or his agency does not want to investigate or is uncooperative, the police will send an 'Attendance Request' to his agency, Big Hit Music.
It is reported that the police are currently in contact with the agency.
