Taeyong of NCT will fulfill his duty of national defense.

SM Entertainment announced on the 18th that "Taeyong will join the Navy on April 15th." He will serve in the military band. 

There will be no official event on the day of admission. The agency said, "To prevent safety accidents caused by on-site congestion, we will enter the area behind closed doors."

Finally, they added, "We ask for constant love and support until the day when Taeyong faithfully fulfills his duty of national defense and returns healthy."

Taeyong also left a handwritten letter on Weverse. "I'm going to serve in the military as of April 15th. I wanted to tell NCTzen myself," he said. 

He recalled, "When I look back on the time I've had, I've been able to mature a lot to this moment thanks to you and the members." 

He also expressed his gratitude. "Every moment was a really meaningful and happy time," he said. "Thank you for giving me a precious and shining time."

"There are many things I want to achieve with the members and the fans, so I will work hard in my military life and learn many things. I will become a better myself and be on the stage," he promised.

Finally, "NCTzen, we've grown up together and I'm really proud of it. That's why this moment is more affectionate and precious. I think I'll miss you a lot. I hope you're all doing well, I'll be right back."

Meanwhile, Taeyong will be the first member of NCT to serve in the military. He is scheduled to be discharged from the military on December 14th, 2025.
