'Doctor Slump' Ranks 1st in Netflix Non-English Series

JTBC's "Doctor Slump" (written by Baek Sun-woo, directed by Oh Hyun-jong) topped Netflix's non-English ranking.

According to Netflix, "Doctor Slump" accumulated 2.9 million views from the 29th of last month to the 4th. It is the most watched non-English speaking series in the world.

It rose eight notches from last week (ranking ninth). It ranks first in a total of nine countries including Korea. They include Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. It has made it into the top 10 in a total of 31 countries.

"Doctor Slump" is a healing romantic comedy. It depicts a life-long CPR of Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) and Yoo Jeong-woo (Park Hyung-sik), who failed while running on the upward curve.

Park Shin-hye and Park Hyung-sik reunited after 11 years since "The Heirs" (2013). It is also Park Shin Hye's comeback film in three years. With warm comfort and excitement, viewership has been on the rise.

Meanwhile, tvN's "Captivating the King" starring Cho Jung-seok and Shin Se-kyung, ranked sixth on the chart. SBS-TV's "My Demon" with Song Kang and Kim Yoo-jung, which ended last month, ranked seventh.

Director Yeon Sang-ho's original Netflix series "The Bequeathed" dropped from 1st last week to 9th. JTBC's "Welcome to Samdal-ri," which ended last month, ranked 10th.
