On Thursday (Dec. 14), Netflix unveiled the posters for its Korean series 'Gyeongseong Creature,' capturing the characters enjoying brief pleasant moments during difficult times.
Released poster depicts the spring of 1945, amid the heyday of Japanese dominance over Korea in Gyeongseong. Park Seo-joon portrays Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy man who is the owner of Geumokdang, the best pawn shop in Gyeongseong.
Han So-hee portrays Yoon Chae-ok, a specialist in finding missing people. In the released poster, Chae-ok had a faint smile on her face.
Geumokdang's butlers Na Wol-daek (Kim Hae-sook) and Gu Gap-pyeong (Park Ji-hwan) gave off a warm atmosphere while Yukiko Maeda (Soo Hyun), Lieutenant General Gato (Choi Young-joon), Ichiro (Hyun Bong-sik) divulged a darker side.
In contrast to the gentle smiles of the characters, the poster was stained red and torn, heralding a desperate struggle for survival.
"I tried to express small joys and humanity in difficult times," producer Jeong Dong-yoon stated. "I highlighted the other side of the splendor, that there are more frightening and terrible things behind."
Park Seo-joon shared, "Tae-sang's confidence is expressed through his external appearance, such as his three-piece suit and neatly combed hair."
"I maintained a balance between pursuing a clear goal without becoming fixated on it itself," shared Han So-hee, raising expectations for her character.
Netflix will debut Gyeongseong Creature Part 1 streaming on Netflix starting December 22, 2023, with Part 2 debuting January 5, 2024 just after New Years.
