South Korean football player Hwang Ui-Jo (FC Seoul) has been caught up in a controversial swarm of baseless rumors regarding his personal life. Recently, it was reported that the football player had simultaneous relationships with multiple women. Hwang Ui-Jo immediately denied the allegations, calling them baseless, and stated that he would be taking strong legal action.
On June 25th, Hwang Ui-Jo's management released an official statement.
"Hello, this is UJ Sports.
First of all, we would like to express our sincere apologies to the fans who have been supporting Hwang Ui-Jo and to everyone who has been affected by the recent social controversy caused by our player's actions.
We confirm that these are baseless rumors and have initiated an investigation to monitor those responsible for creating and spreading these unfounded rumors.
We would like to clarify that all the content uploaded on social media platforms is not true, and we strongly intend to take legal action against those who have spread and amplified the player's private life, acquired illegally, causing harm to his reputation.
We deeply condemn the dissemination of unverified false information and comments related to sexual defamation, which has caused harm to the player. We also want to assure you that we will take strong measures against the indiscriminate spread of rumors.
Thank you."
The rumors spread through an Instagram post written by anonymous 'A', who claimed to be Hwang Ui-Jo's ex-girlfriend. The title of the post was 'The private life of national football player Hwang Ui-Jo.'
'A' claimed, "Hwang Ui-Jo slept with me as if we were in a relationship, and then avoided clarifying our relationship because he had to go overseas again. Likewise, he has gaslighted numerous women." She continued, "He has had relationships with celebrities, influencers and ordinary women simultaneously. I don't know how many more victims will come forward in the future."
'A' also raised issues with 'exploit contents' on Hwang Ui-jo's mobile phone. She exposed the existence of private videos and photos of women, questioning whether or not they were taken after their consent or without their knowledge, suggesting that it may be a crime.
Ex-girlfried 'A' demanded an apology from the football player by saying, "I hope no more victims will come forward" and urged Hwang Ui-Jo to acknowledge his actions and apologize to prevent further damage to his career.
Since the post, 'A' has deleted her Instagram posts. Although she announced that she would hold a live broadcast at 21:00 (KST) on the same day of her posts, the broadcast did not take place.
