Netflix's ‘Squid Game’ (director Hwang Dong-hyuk) unveiled the casting for season 2.
Netflix held a global fan event called 'Tudum' in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on June 17 (local time). On this day, the 'Squid Game' season 2 casting was opened with the video.
Actors Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hoon), Lee Byung-hun (Frontman), Wi Ha-joon (Hwang Jun-ho), and Gong Yoo(The salesman) in season 1 will play again. New faces have appeared here.
The new faces were Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon and Yang Dong-geun. He appeared by pressing the game button one by one. They will appear as new participants.
Director Hwang Dong-hyuk announced in June last year that the production of Season 2 was confirmed, saying, "We will meet again with a new game and an amazing story". Filming will begin in the second half of this year.
'Squid Game' gained global popularity in 2021. Immediately after its release, it topped the Netflix viewing list for 46 consecutive days. It attracted the most viewers among the original works of all time.
It also swept overseas awards. It won the Best Actor and Best Actress Award and the Stunt Ensemble Award for all TV series at the 28th American Actor Association Awards. At the 27th Critics Choice Awards, won the Best Foreign Language Series and Best Actor.
