"Everything collapsed. Except our apartment."
Actors Lee Byung-Hun, Park Seo-Joon and Park Bo-Young are returning to screens with a film titled 'Concrete Utopia' (directed by Um Tae-Hwa) in August. On June 2nd, a trailer and teaser posters were released.
'Concrete Utopia' is set in Seoul, which has turned into ruins due to a destructive earthquake. The plot begins with the earthquake survivors gathered in the remaining Hwang-gung Apartments.
Lee Byung-Hun takes on the role of the apartment residents’ representative 'Young-Tak.' Young-Tak spares no danger in protecting the apartment from outsiders.
Park Seo-Joon plays the role of 'Min-Sung.' Min-Sung also dedicates himself to protect the apartment and his family. Park Bo-Young plays the role of his partner, portraying a strong bond and chemistry with Min-Sung, who does not lose faith even in extreme situations.
The poster displays a city completely collapsed and in crumbles. Among the wreckage, there is only one standing apartment. The caption reads, "Everything collapsed. Except our apartment", revealing the start of the story.
The trailer hints intense suspense. Lee Byung-Hun says, "I felt like this apartment was chosen. That is the feeling I got." Afterwards, residents struggling in wreckages are shown.
More buildings collapse and cars crash. Lee Byung-Hun and Park Seo-Joon hold guns as they protect the residents. Lee Byung-Hun shouts through a megaphone, “The apartment belongs to the residents!”
The full cast list includes Lee Byung-Hun, Park Seo-Joon and Park Bo-Young joined by Park Ji-Hu, Kim Sun-Young and Kim Do-Yoon.
An official from the film stated, "we injected cinematic imagination into a realistic subject", and urged audiences to expect innovative settings, unpredictable storylines as well as powerful characters.
