“ Eco-friendly project ”...BTS Forest Opens Nanji Park
A forest named after BTS was created in Han river Nanji Park in Mapo-gu,Seoul.
Melon(Music streaming service) announced on April 25 that it “Will open the ‘BTS Forest’ to citizens as the first achievement of its eco-friendly project”. It consists of three pop trees and 400 bamboo trees.
This eco-friendly project to create a forest with the name of an artist subscribers select their support. It started in June last year. BTS was selected as the first artist.
According to the service, when subscribers select their favorite singer's name on the project homepage, 2 percent of their monthly payment is saved as a donation. Once the donation reaches 20 million won ($16,762), it is donated to the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement, which will then use the funds to create a forest named after the chosen singer in Seoul.
In the case of BTS, it exceeded 20 million won on March 15. They were the first artists of domestic and foreign musicians. Following the BTS, two teams are set to meet their target.
An official from Melon said, "We expect more forests to be created with the forest project that can support both artists and the Earth".
