SM Entertainment announced a strong response to fans who violated the privacy of NCT members. It heralded a strong legal response to "sasaeng's (extremely obsessive K-pop fan)" behavior.
SM Entertainment said on the afternoon of March 6, "NCT has been suffering from extreme pain as the activities of illegitimate fans continue, such as following the members or excessive contact and filming."
They include unauthorized visits to places related to the members' daily lives, following vehicles, excessive contact or filming, and indiscriminate attempts to contact them.
For example, revealed the case of member Haechan. According to the agency, the so-called "sasaeng fan" illegally broke into Haechan's home where he was staying with his family in late November last year.
The sasaeng fan was indicted by the prosecution. The agency said, "Because of this incident, not only Haechan but also his family are complaining of considerable mental pain."
According to Haechan's will, criminal punishment was not imposed. However, SM decided to disclose it to warn people not to have such problems.
Once again, it was announced that such an act would be stopped. "It's a stalking offence that instils fear in the artist and causes serious damage," he said.
It warned of a strong response. "We will sternly deal with illegal activities such as residential intrusion, personal information leakage, and stalking in principle of zero tolerance," he said. "We will proceed with strong legal measures."
