Former member of Big Bang, Seungri, will be discharged from prison this coming February 11th. With the discharge date coming up, attention is being focused on whether Seungri will go back to the entertainment industry.
Last May, the Supreme Court sentenced Seungri to 1 year and 6 months, with charges of habitual gambling. Although it is apparent that he will not resume his activities straight away, the underlying question as to whether Seungri will ever go back to the industry, is still under the question.
The ‘Burning Sun’ scandal and unwrapping of explicit content from a group chatroom with Jung Joon-Young is the reason why Seungri's career fell downhill.
From December 2013 to August 2017, Seungri went on a trial for charges against habitual gambling of up to 1.83 million USD (approximately 2.29 billion KRW) over the course of 8 incidents.
The first trial found Seungri guilty of almost all of the nine charges and sentenced him to three years in prison, while ordering an additional fine of 1.157 billion KRW, however the second trial reduced the sentence to 1 year and 6 months with no fine.
