On November 30th, Mnet's '2022 MAMA Awards' held its second day at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. On this day, girl group Ive won the ‘Rookie award’ followed by the 'Song of the Year' award.
As soon as Ive’s name was announced as the winner, member Jang Won-Young firmly bit her lower lip, as if to stop herself from crying.
Even when she walked onto the stage to receive the award, tears did not stop running down her face.
On stage, Ahn Yu-Jin first made her speech and cameras showed Jang Won-Young trying to calm down her emotions. But Jang Won-Young seemed overwhelmed as she continued to try and hold back tears.
Eventually, tears rolled down her face.
Jang Won-Young made a short speech saying, "Thank you so much for loving our songs this year."
Global fans congratulated the group online by leaving comments such as “It is the first time to see Won-Young cry like this. I am sad too”, “she worked so hard for this so it is okay to cry” and “congratulations Won-Young and Ive!”
