Kim Ga-Ram, a former member of the girl group Le Sserafim, personally opened up about the controversial issues related to school bullying.
On August 10th, through an acquaintance, Kim Ga-ram posted a note explaining the details of the recent issue.
In the article, Kim Ga-ram started by saying, "First of all, I want to apologize and say sorry." She continued, "I worked extremely hard for my dream, so it was true that I was afraid that my past actions would break my dream.”
Kim Ga-Ram continued, "When given the opportunity, I wanted to express how I feel about these rumors. I would like to emphasize that I have never been forced to transfer schools, never drank underaged nor smoked, and have never harassed or bullied anyone, I was just a normal student" she appealed.
Regarding the reported incident at the time, Kim Ga-Ram continued, "The bullying incident took place between March and May of Year 7, when classmate A uploaded a video of her and her friends talking about another classmate’s underwear. At the thought of helping the victimized classmate, I stood up for her by arguing with classmate A, which got feisty so I ended up swearing.”
She added, "At that time, I did not think deeply about how to resolve the problem in a more reserved manner and just followed my heart. I should have thought deeply about it before pulling up a fight with classmate A, which is something I regret. Looking back now, I admit it was immature. Back then, friendship was the most important factor to me and spending time with friends was most enjoyable. I remember my parents would often tell me to not be ignorant of friends in trouble so these actions were not intentionally any form of bullying.”
Lastly Kim Ga-Ram said, "I am trying to live harder so that my future can shine. The two weeks after debut was my dream come true; a moment I will never forget because I was living my dream but also because of its expensive lesson. I will continuously work hard to become a better person.”
Earlier in April this year, rumors spread online that Kim Ga-Ram was involved in school bullying. An informant claimed that Kim Ga-Ram was the main bully at school, uploading screenshots of a conversation claimed to be Kim Ga-Ram involved in bullying.
However, when the rumors were going viral, Source Music issued an official statement to emphasize that such accusations were not true and would hold full responsibility for disseminating false information. After that, Kim Ga-Ram officially made her debut in May as a member of Le Sserafim.
In the midst of this, a report from the Autonomous Committee for Countermeasures against School Violence in relation to Kim Ga-Ram was unveiled. In process, Kim Ga-Ram’s public image was continuously falling, leading her to temporarily suspend her activities.
Leading on from this, on July 20th, Hybe and Source Music finally made an official statement to announce that they would be terminating the exclusive contract with Kim Ga-Ram. Since then, Le Sserafim have been defined as a five-member girl group.
