Boy group Seventeen are celebrating 7 years since their debut by donating to UNESCO for children across the world.
Earlier today, Mr. Kyung-Koo Han who is the Secretary General of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO, remarked on the boy group’s act of kindness to donate to underprivileged students globally. It is particularly more meaningful as this donation was done a day before their comeback, which also marks their 7 year anniversary.
The donation from Seventeen will be used directly for disadvantaged students in Africa and Asia but will also add to ‘Korean National Commission for UNESCO’ to raise awareness of education in their global education village.
Since their debut, the boy group have been doing good deeds by donating in various fields, however this time they have particularly chosen to support education for children and teenagers.
Mr. Han, Secretary General of the Korean National Commission of UNESCO, stated “There are many adults, teens and children globally who cannot read and write. Amidst the fact that the population is rising to 1 billion, we are truly grateful to Seventeen for making a generous offer for those in need of a better education.” He also added, “In this particular donation, we will be supporting the young generation who have been affected even more by Covid-19, especially those in villages and suburbs where access to good education is deprived. We would like to thank Seventeen again and will ensure to use wisely by opening many opportunities in education.”
Seventeen remarked, “we consider May 26th as our birthday and we are honoured to be able to remember this day by giving back. Although it is only a small fraction of all the love and support we have received from fans the past seven years, we want to emphasise that education is so important and we promise to continue our charity in the future.”
